07 Kangerlussuaq - Sisimiut
18. Aug. 2006
The weather was not looking good the next day. A solid cloud cover over Kangerlussuaq and worse – fog in Kulusuk – the next destination across the inland Ice. The idea of picking up ice going through the cloud layer – and nowhere to go - was not appealing.
But as Kangerlussuaq is nothing much more than an airport and a hotel, we decided to try to go to Illulisat, to see the Icefiord.
Heading out through the fiord at 1000 feet above the water (see video), we had a fabulous view of the rock walls of the fiord. Getting to the mouth of the fiord, we headed north towards Sisimiut. As the weather was getting worse with rain, a stop in Sisimiut was decided.
